AVON SOCCER CLUB INTRAMURAL PROGRAM

The Avon Soccer Club Intramural program is dedicated to the enjoyment and development of soccer players.  Our primary focus is to provide an opportunity for the participants to have fun, learn the sport and develop life skills including a life long love of the game.  We stress a positive atmosphere of good sportsmanship and allow players to have fun and learn teamwork and respect for all involved.  Competition is a natural part of the sport, but is not the primary objective of the Intramural Program.  All teams are coached by volunteer parents.  Avon intramural teams for the 2010 Spring Season are determined by the following age groupings:

U8 (Born 2002 & 2003)U10 (Born 2000 & 2001)These age groups are composed of teams formed in a random manner, yet balanced by ability to provide an equal and fun level of competitive play.  Participants will practice one night a week and receive equal playing time during their
8 v 8 games on Saturdays at Fisher Meadows Athletic Complex against other teams within the Avon program in the same age group.

U12 (Born 1998 & 1999)U14 (7th and 8th grade)Our older age groups participate in the Farmington Valley Program.  Practice takes place one night a week and participants will receive equal playing time and compete 11 v 11 against other intramural teams of the same age group and competitive level from Avon, Simsbury, Farmington, Burlington and Plainville.  Home games will take place at Fisher Meadows Athletic Complex.  Away game directions are provided in the "Fields" section of the website at the left.  Games typically take place on Saturday with potential for some Sunday games.

In the event of inclement weather on practice and/or a home game day, please call 409-4365 for Town of Avon rain out information.  Parents can, and should subscribe to the notices from the Recreation Department on the Town's website at www.town.avon.ct.us  All cancellation notices posted to the town website will go directly to your home and/or work e-mail immediately upon posting.

Please volunteer to coach!!! Without volunteer coaches there is no program!!!***  Coaching is fun and satisfying.  Coaching an Intramural team typically involves one practice (1  1/2 hours) a week, and one game each weekend with some team administration, e.g. distributing uniform shirts provided by Avon Soccer Club, planning team line-up and practice drills.

In return for your investment you receive a priceless bond with your child and his or her peers.  You do NOT need to be an experienced soccer player or coach to volunteer for the Intramural Program!  Avon Soccer Club offers coaching support for both novice and experienced coaches.  For more information or to volunteer to coach please complete the Coaching Application and Volunteer Disclosure form in the "Hey Coach" section at the left and email them to the  Coaching Coordinator, Shawn Peter at
